Our Founder
Colette Stone
Colette enjoyed a 17 year career serving families in public elementary classrooms in the west end of Toronto. Her specialties include primary reading development, special education support, elementary mathematics programming, vocal music, librarianship, and building communities of learners. She enjoyed working with students in every grade from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Colette and a team of colleagues produced annual whole school musicals, she often conducted the primary choir, at the K-8 school she most recently worked at. These productions were a source of great joy for the children, their families, and the school community.
Colette founded Elevate Literacy in September 2020 with the vision of bringing a high quality educational experience to families in Toronto’s west end. She approaches teaching and learning the fundamentals with a growth mindset. She values the process as well as the outcomes. Colette believes in leaving the conventional classroom, exploring the neighborhood and being part of the community.
